MAY 17, 2026 ORDER OF WORSHIP CHILDREN’S WORSHIP SUNDAY

GREETERS Aaiden Black, Avah Black

ACOLYTE Dahlia Rosamilia

WELCOME Worship Leader

Good morning and welcome to those worshiping here with us and also those joining us online.  I am Dixie Porter and I will serve as the worship leader today while Pastor Jacob attends seminary.

Today’s service will primarily be led by the children and youth of our church on this special Children’s Ministry Sunday. They are taking a break from Sunday school today to serve as acolyte, greeters, speakers, ushers, and dancers.  During the week they attend preschool up through high school.

We are also blessed to have Bethany’s choir singing today.

Let’s join together in praising God for all those serving today and each Sunday.  Amen? Amen!

OPENING PRAYER Bella Rosamilia

Hello. My name is Bella Rosamilia.  Please join me in the Opening prayer.

Dear God,
Thank You for bringing us together today. Thank You for our church, our families, and our friends. Help us to listen, learn, sing, and worship with joyful hearts. Fill this place with Your love and peace. Teach us how to care for one another and help us become people who share kindness and hope with the world around us. We are glad to be here with You today. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS Bella Rosamilia

Before we begin today’s service, I have a few announcements to share with you.

PRELUDE Dr. Banks

INVOCATION (Remain Seated) Brianna Clark

Hi. My name is Brianna Clark.  I invite you to read the invocation with me.  You may remain seated for this.

Mission-sending God,

From the beginning you promised that the good news of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed to all nations. You called your church to carry the light of the gospel to the ends of the earth, so that every people and every generation might know your love and grace.

May our worship renew our vision, deepen our faith, and send us out to share the hope of the gospel wherever we go.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

**CALL TO WORSHIP Brayden Clark

Hello.  My name is Brayden Clark.  Please stand as you are able for the Call to Worship.

Leader: Along the shores of Galilee, Jesus called fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary people to follow him.

People: Through them, the good news began to spread.

Leader: Generations later, faithful saints carried the light of Christ into the world. Francis of Assisi left behind wealth and comfort to serve the poor and proclaim the love of God.

People: Through them, the love of Christ was made visible.

Leader: In our own nation’s history, disciples like Martin Luther King Jr. stood for justice and equality, trusting that the gospel calls us to love our neighbors and seek peace.

People: Through them, the voice of Christ spoke to the world.

Leader: Today, disciples across the globe continue Christ’s work—feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, teaching children, welcoming strangers, and sharing the hope of the gospel.

People: Through them, God is still transforming the world.

Leader: Come, let us worship the God who calls every generation to follow Christ and share his love.

People: Let us worship the Lord who sends us into the world.

Remain standing and follow along on the screens as we sing “Build My Life”

OFFERING COLLECTION Dahlia & Dakota Rosamilia

OFFERTORY Carole Schauer

Today we reach the final week of our global journey of Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously. For six weeks we have joined more than 30,000 United Methodist congregations in worship, learning, and prayer. Together we have listened to stories from leaders serving in places where hope is fragile, resources are scarce, and faith is strong.

This morning we celebrate, giving thanks for the movement of the Holy Spirit across Africa, Europe, the Philippines, and right here in our own congregation. God is raising up leaders whose ministries are transforming lives in extraordinary ways. Today is also Miracle Sunday, a day when United Methodists around the world join in sacrificial giving to permanently endow theological education for pastors outside the United States. Through this offering, we help prepare 500 students each year for ministry, strengthening the church for generations to come.

As you listen to today’s testimony, of Caleb, a pastor from Liberia who ministers to people who live in a graveyard, I invite you to hold this prayer in your heart: Lord, use our gifts, our prayers, and our lives to transform the world like Jesus.

Thank you for being part of this global movement of faith. May God continue to shape us into people who love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously.

In just a moment, our ushers will receive this morning’s offering. If you feel called to support this miracle Sunday movement, please indicate your offering as “Miracle Sunday.”

**DOXOLOGY

OFFERTORY PRAYER Carole Schauer

Creator God,
Everything we have comes from Your goodness and care. As we give these offerings today, remind us that even small acts of generosity can help transform the world through Your love. Use these gifts to bring comfort to those who are hurting, justice to those who are overlooked, and hope to communities longing for peace. Shape our hearts to live generously, faithfully, and courageously as followers of Christ. May our giving become part of Your work of renewal in the world. Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER Dixie Porter

Gracious and Loving God,
We come before You today carrying both gratitude and concern. We thank You for the ways You continue to guide us, sustain us, and walk beside us through every season of life. We give thanks for moments of joy, for answered prayers, for laughter shared with loved ones, and for the quiet reminders of Your presence in our daily lives. Today we lift before You [JOYS, JOYS, JOYS]…

Yet we also know that our world is in need of healing and transformation. There is division where there should be unity, pain where there should be compassion, and fear where there should be hope. Draw near to all who are grieving, anxious, lonely, sick, or overwhelmed. Strengthen those who are weary and encourage those who feel discouraged. We place before You the burdens upon our hearts and the concerns of this community, especially [CONCERNS, CONCERNS, CONCERNS]…

God of mercy and renewal, continue transforming not only our lives, but the world around us. Teach us to be peacemakers, servants, and bearers of Christ’s love in a hurting world. Help us to live with courage, generosity, and compassion so others may see Your goodness through us. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray together, saying…

SCRIPTURE READING    Philippians 3:13-14 NRSV Gracy Rosamilia

Hi. My name is Gracy Rosamilia.  Our first scripture reading is found in Philippians, chapter 3, verses 13 and 14.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have laid hold of it, but one thing I have laid hold of: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,

--

14 I press on toward the goal, toward the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.

RESPONSE TO SCRIPTURE Delaney Rosamilia

Leader:  The Word of God for the people of God.

Congregation:  Thanks be to God.

SPECIAL MUSIC Dr. Banks

SCRIPTURE READING Exodus 14:10-12 NRSV Ally Clark

Hello. My name is Ally Clark.  The second scripture reading comes from Exodus, chapter 14, verses 10 through 12.

10 As Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked back, and there were the Egyptians advancing on them. In great fear the Israelites cried out to the Lord.

--

11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us, bringing us out of Egypt?

--

12 Is this not the very thing we told you in Egypt, ‘Let us alone so that we can serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

RESPONSE TO SCRIPTURE Delaney Rosamilia

Leader:  The Word of God for the people of God.
