**UMH HYMN #127 “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah”

VERSE 1

Guide me, O

Thou great Jehovah,

Pilgrim thro’ this barren land;

I am weak, but Thou art mighty,

Hold me with Thy pow’rful hand;

Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,

Feed me till I want no more;

Feed me till I want no more.

VERSE 2

Open now the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing

stream doth flow;

Let the fiery, and cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey thro’;

Strong Deliv’rer,

Strong Deliv’rer,

Be Thou still my

strength and shield;

Be Thou still my

strength and shield.

VERSE 3

When I tread the

verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious

fears subside;

Death of death

and hells destruction

Land me safe on Canaan’s side;

Songs of praises,

Songs of praises,

I will ever give to Thee;

I will ever give to Thee.

JOYS AND CONCERNS Worship Leader

PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE Worship Leader

Holy and Faithful God,

We come before You today as travelers on a journey, grateful that we do not walk alone. You have guided us through uncertain places, provided for us in times of need, and sustained us when our strength has failed. Like Your people wandering through the wilderness, we depend upon You for the bread that nourishes us and the living water that restores our souls. We pause now to give thanks for the blessings among us and lift before You [JOYS, JOYS, JOYS]…

At the same time, Lord, we know that the journey can be difficult. Some among us are walking through grief, illness, loneliness, uncertainty, or fear. We pray for those in our community and throughout the world who are searching for safety, healing, peace, and hope. Hear the concerns we place before You today, especially [CONCERNS, CONCERNS, CONCERNS]…

Guide us, O great Jehovah, through the wilderness before us. When we are weak, be our strength. When we are uncertain, lead us forward. When we are afraid, remind us that Your presence goes with us. Feed us with the bread of heaven, refresh us with the living water of Your grace, and help us trust You one step at a time. Lead us faithfully until we reach the places You are calling us to go, and make our lives signs of Your love and hope along the way.

We pray all these things in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray, saying…

LORD’S PRAYER Worship Leader/Congregation

SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 16:13-20 NRSV Worship Leader

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

--

14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist but others Elijah and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

--

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

--

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

--

17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.

--

18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

--

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

--

20 Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.,

**UMH HYMN #399 “Take My Life, and Let it Be”

VERSE 1

Take my life, and let it be

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;

Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

VERSE 2

Take my hands, and let them move

At the impulse of Thy love;

Take my feet, and let them be

Swift and beautiful for Thee.

VERSE 3

Take my voice, and let me sing

Always, only, for my King;

Take my lips, and let them be

Filled with messages from Thee.
